SMS compliance and A2P 10DLC support
SMS compliance is operational work: sender registration, consent capture, message purpose, opt-out handling, and proof that the list was built cleanly. We help marketing teams get those pieces into one launch checklist.
What is A2P 10DLC?
A2P 10DLC is the U.S. registration path for application-to-person messaging sent from 10-digit long-code numbers. Twilio states that anyone sending SMS or MMS from a 10DLC number to U.S. recipients through an application must register. That work usually includes a business profile, brand details, and a campaign use case.
SMS Marketing Team does the marketing-side prep: offer language, opt-in description, sample messages, STOP and HELP handling, website checks, and evidence that the list source matches the intended campaign. See Twilio's A2P 10DLC overview for the carrier-side framing.
The compliance checklist
TCPA and consent language
The FCC's TCPA materials focus on consent for certain marketing calls and texts, including rules around one-to-one consent. We treat that as a practical campaign constraint: a form should say what the user is signing up for, identify the seller, make consent optional for purchase, and keep opt-out instructions visible.
This page is operational guidance, not legal advice. We can prepare copy and records for counsel to review, but your lawyer should approve the final consent language and privacy terms before high-volume SMS begins.
FAQ
Do all U.S. 10DLC SMS programs need registration?
For Twilio-based application traffic, Twilio says anyone sending SMS or MMS from a 10DLC number to U.S. recipients must register for A2P 10DLC. Other providers follow carrier registration paths too. Toll-free and short code sending use different review models, so the sender type should be chosen before copy and cadence are finalized.
What does STOP handling need to do?
STOP handling needs to remove a recipient from future marketing texts and send a clear confirmation. HELP should return support or brand contact instructions. Twilio's Advanced Opt-Out feature lets senders configure opt-out, opt-in, and help keywords. We test those paths before campaign volume starts, then document the final language.
Can you guarantee carrier approval?
No agency should guarantee carrier approval because vetting sits with carriers, registries, and the platform. We can improve the submission quality by checking brand details, campaign purpose, sample messages, opt-in language, and website signals before submission. If a campaign is rejected, we review the reason and prepare a cleaner resubmission.
